Les Bains Douches became the first and most renowned bathhouse in the French capital. Built in 1885, it was a temple for the senses, a space sanctified to massages and delights of Japanese, Russian, Turkish and sulphur baths. Visitors could choose to swim in the pool or bathe as they would at home.
